Using Aloe Vera

Aloe vera contains burn healing effects, anti-inflammatory properties, scar reducing properties through two the presence of vitamin e and anti oxidants. These properties are present in the gel like substance inside the aloe vera leaf.  The  Aloe pulp is actually a close match to our Skin’s pH balance. Therefore, it is able to moisturize and heal the skin fast.

Here are the steps to harvesting the pulp:

1. Pick a large aloe vera leaf which is green and thick and growing at the bottom of the plant. The thicker the leaf, the more aloe vera gel you will get from it.

2. Cut it at an angle close to the plant’s base. Plants that are too immature to harvest will not have leaves growing close to the ground or soil.

3. Place it upright in a container in a slightly tilted position and leave it in that position for about 10-12 minutes, this will allow the unwanted sap to drain from the leaf.

4. Place the aloe leaf on a cutting board and carefully cut off the tip and the pointed rough edges on either side of the leaf using a sharp knife. Make certain to cut both sides of the leaf all the way from top to bottom.

5. Now separate the front and back of the leaf by slicing it lengthwise from the inside.  Then remove the clear gel like substance inside.

To use, just rub the gel on the parts of your skin that need extra moisturizing or healing.
